A couple of days ago I wrote an article entitled 50 Shades of Green where I spoke about how happy we had been to reach Uganda, after spending so much time traveling in brown places.

A few people commented that they couldn’t imagine such places and that they too love greenery and plants. I realized in posting this that a vast majority of the population lives in green areas, and they have no idea how people live where there are very few plants.

So, I thought it my duty to share some images from a few brown places that we have visited, so you can see the stark contrast that exists. Humans live in all sorts of conditions on this planet, and it has been fascinating to witness them. I also feel, as a traveler, it is my duty to help people better understand the diversity in our world.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy a short tour through some very dry regions that we have visited in the past couple of years.
