As an only child with no kids, I have spent a lot of time helping my parents to downsize so that I don't have a mountain of work to do at the end of their lives. Currently, they have significantly lightened their load and I am very grateful for their cooperation and efforts in doing so. What they have left is satisfactory for their current living quarters and I know they feel lighter because of the downsize. Plus, I know they feel better knowing that they aren't leaving me with a mountain of stuff to deal with. It's true that most kids don't want their parents stuff.
