Awesome Anne. In all my years in the Rocky Mountains I only saw one natural avalanche. But I did see many from Canmore where helicopters would drop explosives on the overhanging cornices to make sure they didn't fall on the road below. Sound is definitely slower than light! By the time we heard the boom in the valley, the show was almost over above. Great post and beautiful photos, as usual.
