Exploring a Drainage Ditch
Something we have been wanting to do for a while.
We have just arrived back to a location in Uganda where we lived last year for 6 months. For about 4 of those months we knew about a drainage ditch that ran along the side of the property, and we always wanted to climb up it to see where it would lead.
The problem was that by the time we discovered it last year, it was raining on and off, and we knew that the cliff walls were likely not stable during that time. Going then would have been risky.
This time, however, it has been really dry. Not dry enough that no food crops are growing like the last time we were here, thankfully, but still dry. We knew that this is probably the best time to get back there, so we wasted no time in doing so.
Our adventure starts out in a concrete ditch that runs under the highway and down into Queen Elizabeth National Park on the other side of the road. The owners of the property had to reinforce this section as it was threatening to wash out one of their buildings that sits at the bottom of the property.
