Getting Further Distribution on Medium — Dispelling a Myth

It doesn’t seem to matter if you self-publish or not.

It’s interesting to me because just a couple of days ago, I was reading an article of Anne’s where she mentioned that one day she got the “chosen for further distribution” notice on one of her articles, and after that, they further distributed every-single-one.

Now, I have read numerous articles on Medium saying that if you publish your articles to a publication, you won’t get further distribution. I have taken this into account when I publish my articles, but have chosen to mostly publish to publications because that is what seems to help grow my audience.

But what I read from Anne, didn’t make sense because I know that she publishes to publications a lot of the time as well. I noted the discrepancy, then went about my business of continuing my writing.

Yesterday I noticed this in my article about learning Neurographic Art.

The coveted “Chosen for further distribution” was finally present! Screenshot by Author.

But wait, I published this to my own publication Share Your Creativity. So why was it further distributed? Hmmmmm, maybe it is because it is MY publication? I thought…
