Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
This is the best way to say it.
In the last few months, actually, mostly since joining Medium, I gave up my Facebook account. I left it because I was tired of the toxicity that exists on the platform, and despite trying to be as positive as possible about life, I would occasionally get drug down into the mire.
I am MUCH better off without it, but I can admit that I do miss the ease of making announcements such as this on the platform.
When I was contemplating how to wish my Mom a Happy Mother’s Day, from the other side of the planet, it occurred to me that I should just write it here. Isn’t this as good a place as any to send our messages of love?
Some may think that this is too personal for Medium. Maybe these are things that should only be said between parties?
But, I know that she reads my articles, so really this is a perfect place. If others don’t want to read it, they don’t have to.
I recently wrote a post about summing up a grandparent. It is a Eulogy to my grandmother who passed away last fall at the age of 95. My family is gathering this month to say farewell to her ashes. It pains me that I can’t be there, but I feel that through my writing, I am. Thanks to my Dad who asked me to write it.
