Having grown up in Canada and having the good fortune to travel to the US quite a bit, I became fearful of borders and customs officials. I still say that the American customs agents are some of the worst offenders of these actions in the world. Although I have also heard that Americans coming into Canada can be grilled just as bad. I'm happy to say, though, I have had mostly good border experiences beyond that but it still doesn't curb my anxiety when I know that I need to cross one.
