I enjoyed reading your insights into alcoholism, Barbara. I do believe that more than anything it becomes a habit that we just don’t question. Chris and I used to drink 1-2 bottles of wine per night or a 6 pack of ciders. But when we started traveling full-time, that habit died off. A large part of that was because we travelled in Muslim countries and places that didn’t sell alcohol. But now, we are back in Canada and we haven’t gone back to our nightly drinking. Mostly, I think, it’s because we broke the habit. We also can truly feel how horrid we feel when we drink in comparison to when we don’t. There is a big difference in our health and sleep patterns, that is for sure. More and more I am not enamoured with alcohol and don’t really feel like it will ever play a large roll in my life again. Thanks for sharing your experience.
