I originally learned Spanish while living in Nicaragua back in 2004. We did a Spanish school for two weeks and stayed with a local family. I had never felt that feeling before, like my brain might explode. We were so exhausted we were going to bed at 8pm. When the family we stayed with tried to speak with us at the dinner table, I just remember hearing them but not deciphering a thing. I would just giggle back and silently wish for them to just stop. Haha. Languages are challenging, and I’m like you, not that ‘book smart’ so studying was hard. But over time I did get it.
