It’s interesting because I’ve been pondering an article about why we will never stay in an AirBnB again. It’s for the reasons you have listed here. If we need a long term rental we always seek out the locals and get screaming deals that are way better than anything on AirBNB. Plus we know the money is going directly in their own pocket. We have had nothing but success in this regard. Sure we may have to find a place to get laundry done, or I wash it myself if needed. But we always have furniture and a kitchen and whatever we need. 1month, 2 months. Whatever. Most places have something available you just need to chat with the people and they will lead you in the right direction.
