Life In Rural Bulgaria

Wifi is not at the top of the priority list!

We are currently staying outside a small town in the center of Bulgaria called Gabrovo. We visited Gabrovo on our previous visit to Bulgaria back in 2015. Before coming here, we contacted our friend, Ahmed, and he told us that he would set us up with a house to stay in while we visited.

We were thrilled by this and are very appreciative of the hospitality. However, the house has no wifi and we don’t have Bulgarian numbers yet. Plus we are told there is no cell phone service out there either.

The house is also 20 minutes outside of town. We asked what the public bus schedule is and nobody seems to know. One guy says he thinks it runs every 2 hours.

So we have hit a challenge, as you can well imagine. Our biggest criterion with this lifestyle is some sort of access to the internet. Even if it means coming into town to get it, that access needs to be available.

Like all things in this life, we will find a way through it. It will just take us a couple of days to readjust and find a new solution. Until then, you may not hear from me as regularly as I would like.
