No Plans Can Sometimes Make Life Complicated

However, we are flexible and resourceful and are willing to roll with the punches.

For our first week in Istanbul, we had a hotel booked but beyond that, we really had no plans.

We knew that we would get a 90-day visa on arrival which is valid within 180 days. So we can come and go from the country for 6 months, but can only be in it for 90 of those days. For those familiar with the EU Schengen Zone, it is similar to that. We had a few skeleton ideas of plans, but those have fizzled a bit, and we have spent the last few days concocting a new itinerary, sort of.

Let me explain.

After our stay in the hotel, we moved down to our Jordanian friend's hostel which is located more in the center of the city. We originally met her when we were in Istanbul the last time at the end of 2020. Back then she had plans to open a hostel, but with Covid and little tourism, plus a rental agreement that fell through, she decided to hold off until things stabilized.
