Oh crap. This happens all the time in Latin America! There are websites where you can purchase fake tickets or you can reserve a ticket on an airline like American Airlines with no credit card and then cancel it within 48 hours. They will send you an itinerary and you just have to do some quick photo editing to make it look legit. We did this all the time when flying from Costa Rica to Guatemala then to the Caribbean and back. You are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. They just don’t want people disappearing into the country. Even though people do anyways.
