We purchase clothing in the countries that we visit in order to dress like the locals. We spent nine months living in Morocco and I always wore appropriate clothing covering my whole body plus usually covered my hair (not always, it depended on where we were and how much tourism was prevalent in the area and what is appropriate or not). We go out of our way to respect the local cultures in all ways.
My partner has tattoos on his hands and neck so he can't hide them.We get great comments from many people in all countries about his tattoos. Even the muslims. In fact, we met many muslim women who had tribal tattoos on their faces which were very cool.
I appreciate you reading my articles. I find it interesting how many people jump on us telling us that we need to respect cultures more when these articles have nothing to do with that. My Egypt article is the ONLY. article out of 380 that I have written on Medium that has a negative slant. Many people who don't like what I have written and want to pidgeon hole us into some weird corner that they have created in their minds, refuse to read my other articles to actually learn about who we really are. I think if they did that, they would be less quick to judge us.
I'm not alone on my feelings of Egypt. It seems that the country has descended into some sort of chaos in recent years and many in the other article have commented to this effect.
