We travel differently. We generally stay with hosts where we are volunteering to paint our murals. If that isn’t happening we just find a place when we arrive to our destination. We also try not to fly, but if we have to we can book flights through travel agents and pay in cash. This particular trip, though, was booked via points from my Dad as a gift.

An example of how we travel, though is happening today. We are just going to the bus station to see what bus options there are to Bulgaria and will purchase that on site. When we arrive we will find a hotel near the bus station. There are always small hotels that service the locals near the transit stations and they are usually half the price of the ones that are booked online.

When we don’t have a schedule, we can make adjustments if we need to as we go.

It’s sometimes inconvenient to not have credit cards but it is possible to live without them. People forget that they didn’t exist 50 years ago and people survived.
