I’m so happy that she jumped on board!

Unlike me, Chris has a very large family. Sadly, he has been estranged from his dad for many years, but he is still in contact with his aunts and uncles on his dad's side. When we found ourselves traveling in Turkey in 2022, his Aunt Lois messaged him to tell him that he had a distant relative currently teaching in Izmir, Turkey. Neither he nor Karon M. G. Murray can remember if they ever met before, but if they did, it was many, many years ago.

So, in 2022, we made a point to stop in Izmir and visit these guys while traveling through Turkey. I will never forget our stay with them because I was sick as a dog with a terrible cough and cold. I felt so bad bringing my nasty sickness into their house, but they took us in without batting an eye, and I was so grateful.

Karon taught in an international school for two years. When we visited them, she was halfway through her first year, and they were both absolutely loving living in Turkey. They loved it so much that neither of them wanted to ever return to Canada. We could certainly relate to them and understand exactly how they felt.
