Well I can say with authority that curation doesn’t mean viral. AT ALL. Most of my stories get curated these days and I haven’t seen much of a difference. At least not immediately. Some get a small boost externally but that’s about it. This all only started happening for me in May, so maybe I need to be more patient to see the rewards. But in my experience being curated has not drastically changed anything.
