Why I Love Writing on Medium
While I have only been on Medium for one month, I can already see that this is just what I need.
I first heard about Medium around the beginning of January 2022. I was watching a YouTube video from a vlogger that outlined all the ways that he makes money online.
In his video, he had multiple different revenue streams (don’t all of us nomads?) and I was actually sort of getting bored with them all as they were the same old, same old as ones that I had heard before. But then he started talking about this platform that he writes for called ‘Medium’.
He said that he only makes around $100/month writing on the platform, but it piqued my curiosity. If he could make $100/month, then surely so could I? And maybe I could make more!
Like so many others that live this lifestyle, I originally started out blogging. At first, I really enjoyed it, but then it started to become a chore. I was getting bored with writing about my life all the time. In the beginning, it was fun and exciting to share our adventures, but over time, it started to become just normal everyday life to us, and I was tired of writing about it. My blog storage space was also filling up, and I was being encouraged by WordPress to spend the money to make it into a website.
The problem was that I didn’t know if I wanted to have a website called Just Some Wandering, which was the name of my blog. I felt, at the time, that eventually we would find a niche of some sort, and then we would create a website around that. Of course, that did happen eventually, and our brand Artistic Voyages was born at the beginning of 2020.
When I first started designing that website I decided that I didn’t want a blog. I was simply going to create pages that had writing and insights on each of them about the countries that we visit. I was gung ho at first to create those pages, but over time, my interest waned on that also. Other things started to demand my time, and I will admit that much of it is, sadly, not finished. However, I do still hope to get back to it someday when life gets into an easier rhythm. (Insert eye roll!)
During the early days of the pandemic, though, I suddenly wanted a space where I could write my thoughts…
