Your entire comment here seems to miss the point that what I am attempting to explain with my article is the fact that human beings do not have to treat each other with the level of aggressiveness and indecency that we experienced in Egypt. This isn't about us being from a colonizing country, it isn't about us being white, it isn't about us wanting 'European standards'. It is simply the fact that human beings can treat each other with decency and respect.

We have traveled to many impoverished nations and, trust me, I FULLY understand the unjust and unfair way that these countries have been treated. I want for nothing else but fairness and equality amongst all nations. But it doesn't excuse the behaviours that we witnessed here because we have NOT seen that sort of behaviour in any other place that we have visited.

This article also isn't simply about $25. It's about trust and having faith in our fellow human beings to help us out as they offered to do. I could tell you of many places where we have been in this exact same situation and instead of going out of their way to rip us off, they helped us as travelers. And in turn, we go out of our way to help the people that we meet if and when we have the means. It is simply about human beings and making connections with each other and treating each other with fairness and respect. This is what we enjoy about traveling because this is what we encounter 99.9% of the time. Sadly that was not the case in Egypt. And this was our experience whether you like it or not.

If you have time to learn more about how we travel and how we want to contribute to the places we visit, please take the time to read this article. I'm not sharing it as a way to brag, or look good, simply as a way for others to get a broader understanding of who we are as travelers.
